Ideal Climate & Soil

  • Well-drained loamy or sandy loam soil & Rich in organic matter & Avoid waterlogging

Land Preparation

  • 2–3 ploughings for fine tilth & Remove weeds & residues
  • Apply 8–10 tons FYM/acre & Prepare raised beds or ridges

Sowing Time & Method

  • Kharif: June–July & Rabi: Oct–Nov , Summer: Jan–Feb
  • Bush type: 25–30 kg/acre | Pole type: 10–12 kg/acre
  • Direct sowing by dibbling or line sowing

Spacing & Nutrient Management

  • Bush type: 45 × 10 cm & Pole type: 75 × 30 cm
  • Fertilizer Dose (Per Acre): NPK – 20:30:20 Kg & Apply full dose as basal

Irrigation

  • First irrigation after sowing & Then every 7–10 days
  • Critical stages: flowering & pod formation & Avoid excess water

Pest & Disease Management

  • Aphids, Thrips & Pod borer
  • Neem oil 3 ml/L & Spinosad / Imidacloprid if severe
  • Major Diseases: Powdery mildew , Rust , Root rot
  • Carbendazim / Mancozeb spray

Harvesting

  • First picking in 45–55 days & Harvest tender pods at 3–4 days interval
  • Multiple pickings possible
  • Yield: Depending Upon practices & Climate
